Small US Cities with Major Manufacturing Capabilities

When people talk about manufacturing in the United States, nostalgia of Detroit auto manufacturing probably comes to mind first.  However, while Detroit may no longer be a beacon of hope for US production, there is no shortage of manufacturing abilities all around the country. In fact, one of the most interesting parts about the present state of manufacturing in the United States is that large bustling cities are not the only ones in the manufacturing business these days. There are many smaller cities that have gotten in on the action in an effort to expand their economic impact.  Below are four cities that manufacture like the big boys, yet still preserve that small town feel.

Greenville, SC

Ask any Greenville SC real estate agent and they’ll tell you that manufacturing in Greenville offers a wide variety of services and products to meet the needs of businesses and consumers in the area. Some of the most popular names in the industry include Coca-Cola, Procter and Gamble, Unilever, Seiken, Unocal, Archer-Coat, Georgia Pacific, Hillsdale, Tate & Lyle, Pfister, Coca-Cola, Snickers, general and Heineken. While these manufacturers provide some of the best-known names in the industry, there are also many smaller companies that have found great success in the Greenville SC area. These smaller companies specialize in a wide variety of services and products including chemicals, paper products, packaging supplies and food products.

Greenville SC manufacturing is not limited to just consumer goods. There are a number of medical and pharmaceutical corporations in the area as well. These larger corporations often outsource jobs to Greenville SC because of the excellent job opportunities and the ability to provide good quality work for an affordable wage. As a result, the number of medical and pharmaceutical jobs has steadily increased while the demand for jobs in the medical and healthcare industries has remained consistent.

Greenville SC manufacturing is at its busiest, offering services for everything from paper products to medical devices to water treatment and refrigeration services. These service sectors have a wide variety of products that are manufactured in the U.S. and around the world. For example, Unilever and Coca-Cola both make products in Greenville SC, as do several other well-known brand names. The water treatment and refrigeration industry are another booming one, with several new treatment facilities coming onto the market every year. In Greenville, residents and companies looking to relocate or make improvements can find just about anything they need at competitive prices.

Arlington, TX

When you decide to start up your own business or expand an existing company, you must look into Arlington TX manufacturing as one of the many viable options available. There are so many companies that relocate to the area each year and many of them end up going out of business because they didn’t take the time to do the proper research in the area before they started their business. While there are a lot of benefits to working in Arlington, there are also a lot of downfalls, too. If you aren’t prepared for both, it may be a mistake.

There is no reason to believe that Arlington is only a place where large businesses locate because there are plenty of small companies that grow here year after year. There are plenty of small office and manufacturing facilities as well as warehouse and distribution centers. There are so many advantages to doing business in Arlington, but there are also many downsides that you need to be aware of before making a decision on whether you want to open a manufacturing business in Arlington or move your other business elsewhere.

One of the biggest issues for many people who decide to move to Arlington is the fact that it can be hard to get insurance for buildings that are located in Arlington. Property located in Arlington is required to have an insurance policy for buildings worth at least $1 million. Business owners have to find this money somewhere and if it is hard to get insurance for these buildings, you may not be able to stay in business. Another problem that can happen if you don’t comply with building requirements in Arlington is to make sure that all employees and contractors have workers’ compensation insurance. This insurance can prevent you from paying a hefty amount of money in court if an employee or contractor gets injured while on the job.
